International Literacy Day 2019

As we celebrate International Literacy Day, we must remember that in our own country, we have so much work to do in urban literacy education. Currently 64% of 4th graders currently read on grade level (80% if we look at only low-income areas). Thirty-three million adults in our country alone can’t read past third grade. In this technological age, we should be doing better. It will happen with government, investors, and business leaders share their time and money with elementary schools coast to coast where the foundations of literacy begin. I also encourage the phrase STREAM to be used in education since no other subject can be learned without READING in the center.  I’m excited to share my expertise and passion in literacy this school year. I would love to visit your conference or school soon! Together, we can #TackleReading across America.
